Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC) Biomarker Test

MCHC measures the average concentration of hemoglobin inside red blood cells. It shows how densely each cell is packed with the oxygen-carrying protein hemoglobin and is calculated from hemoglobin and hematocrit values in a standard complete blood count (CBC).Low MCHC reflects hypochromia, where cells appear paler due to less hemoglobin, while high MCHC is uncommon and linked to specific red cell disorders. Interpreted with MCV, MCH, RDW, hemoglobin, and hematocrit, MCHC helps identify iron deficiency, thalassemia trait, anemia of inflammation, and hemolysis patterns. ‍
